Type: Tarot Deck Number of Cards: 78 Major Arcana: 22 Minor Arcana: 56 Publisher: Published by US Games 1970 Languages: English Illustrator :David Palladini is a graphic artist who has illustrated many books, posters, and other works as well. He has also illustrated two Other Decks: Linweave Tarot, New Palladini Tarot by David Palladini. David has won numerous awards from the Art Society. The cards: Card Size: 2.94 x 4.56 inches = 7.46cm x 11.59cm The cards are designed in Art Deco decorative style. Art deco originated in the late 1920s and was derived from cubism and based on geometric forms. The style was growing in the 1960s, which is when this deck was created. The front of each card has a different scene, with a white border around the edges. The pictures are clear and bright muted colors. The colors are not pastels, not neon, very easy to look at, soft oranges brown, yellows, greens, pinks all the colors of the rainbow are on the cards. This deck merges art deco style with medieval imaging .Which I find makes the deck interesting and unique to itself. The back as the white bordered continued on the edges .With a royal blue and white art work .If your study the back of the cards you will see that there is upright and reverse as well. I am still using this deck on a daily base for readings as the symbols and art work are clear. There are no pictures of people being mistreated or heavy art work on religion. This deck is very suitable for children to see. I still find that after these twenty some years of reading tarot this is still me favourite deck to use. This deck is Suitable for beginning Tarot users, as well as advance users. This deck is very easy on the eyes. The art work is not dark, but the colors are little muted compared to some of the newer decks .This was the first deck I was given as preteen from a Cole’s book store of all places. This deck is great for kids to use, as alternative to a beginner deck. The deck consist of 78 cards in total the 22 Major Arcana and the 56 minor Arcana .Also know as your suit cards which consist of four suits. The suits are Cups, Pentacles, Rods, and Swords. Each suit containing the court cards king, Queen, knight, Page Ace to ten is the number cards. With This deck the Strength card is 8th and the Justice card is the number 11. This does seem change according to decks and believe system. The Fool card being the number Zero card. The fool card can be at in front of the Magician which is numeral 1 as well it does fit in after the World card 21 Each of the Major Arcana cards has a roman numeral at the top of the card .A white border the frames each cards. In this part of the card you will find the number of the Major Arcana. The name of each card is also included on the front of the card. With the Major Arcana it is at the bottom of the picture but not in the white border. With the minor Arcana the name of each card is at the bottom of the card in a nice white border, in black letter. The letters are clear and easy to read. There is no number at the top of the minor Arcana cards. There is a little paper booklet the comes with the deck that is list keywords for each card .In the booklet there is a introduction on the deck very small, in goes on to recommend some tarot books in the end of the booklet. There explanation and a diagram of a card layout. Which I do find dated, but very traditional. With the booklet and using the different symbols this deck can be read by the novice to the more experience. This deck can relate back to the elements, but you do not need to know that knowledge either to use the deck. There are different flowers and colors that all can bring different deeper to your readings. The pictures on the card are based in the Middle Ages .There are different scene on each card. Some cards are more lively then others, but they all have a story to tell. The Empress is the #3 as a quick glace you will see her on the card. What you look close you will see. There is a mountain behind her with water flowing .There is golden red whet to the side of her and the shield in front .The Ten of Pentacles as a picture of a family on it. The Empress card does represent traditional fertility of mind or body, action, nurturing. The Ten of Pentacles family, growth, action, fulfillment practical matters. Pictures have many things to say. The symbols and the colors. This is a deck that I continue use.
